Supernumeraries (2003)
SD, 21min, sound

Supernumeraries collapses Joseph Conrad's short story The Secret Sharer into an account of the contradictions of maritime law, statelessness and labour exploitation. Shot on an operating container ship, it centres on the crisis of action precipitated by the discovery of a stowaway on board, taking the captain to the limit point of his sovereignty.
